In these times of sticker shock at gas pumps, unreasonable tolls, ever increasing traffic congestion and growing environmental irresponsibility - the time is ripe to consider EV as a means of transit, mainly for intra-city commutes. We mulled over it for some time(roughly 1 yr), finally went for it - not only it made economical sense, it also made sense purely from staying in tune with times perspective. In all, getting an EV was one of the best decisions we made.
We leased Nissan Leaf 2013 - gives on avg 85 miles per charge - eligible for CA white sticker (carpool lane access, 50% toll discount), federal/state discounts, insurance and tax rebates, free chargers across bay area - the list goes on.
EVs are packed with some pretty cutting edge technology - internet blogs and forums (mynissanleaf.com) make the experience enriching and shareable with others, mobile apps(plugshare) make it fun and well worth it.
Age of EV has arrived and EVs are here to stay - so, go get one.
